Series Overview and Authority
Governing Body
The True North Shootout Series operates under the complete authority of the Ontario Cornhole Association (OCA) Board of Directors. All tournament procedures, player classifications, and competitive standards align with official OCA protocols and Cornhole Canada regulations.
Competition Timeline
Qualifying Period runs from September 1, 2026 through June 1, 2027. The Championship tournament takes place in July 2027 at the OCA Provincial Championships. Players accumulate points throughout the qualifying window playing in regional singles events in their tier to secure series points.
Player Eligibility and Registration Requirements
Series Registration Fee
All competitors must pay a one-time registration fee of $25.00 CAD to be eligible for Series points accumulation and Championship qualification. This fee enters you into The True North Shootout points race.
Membership Status
Membership Status
Participation is open exclusively to members in good standing with the Ontario Cornhole Association. Players must maintain an active Cornhole Canada membership throughout the entire Series duration to remain eligible for points and prizes.
Tier Classification
- Initial Classification: Players must register for The Series based on their official Cornhole Canada player tier at the time of registration.
- Unified Leaderboard: All players across Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 accumulate points on a single master Singles provincial leaderboard.
- Player Promotion (“Tier Bumping”): In the event a player is promoted to a higher skill tier by the CC mid-season:
- Immediate Migration: The player must compete in their new, higher tier at all subsequent Qualifying Events (in accordance with CC rules).
- Points Retention: Points previously earned in lower tier events are 100% retained on the player’s master Singles leaderboard. Points are never reset to zero.
- Natural Seeding & Growth: Because higher tier brackets award larger point allocations, the promoted player’s accumulated lower-tier points will naturally position them outside the top 16 of the higher tier, allowing them an opportunity to compete in Regional events in their new tier to earn top-16 contention.
- Championship Qualification: The player will compete at The Championship in the tier they occupy at the close of the Qualifying Period.

OCA may ask players for proof of registration and participation if needed, in order to receive the True North Series funds.
